Visions of Higher Consciousness
My first encounter with the Ishayas’ Teaching of Ascension came through the books by MSI. I opened myself to the experience of reading MSI’s writing. And when I did… everything changed for me in that moment. Very quickly I realized that I had found the very thing I had been looking for this whole life.
I devoured all the five books that were available at the time. Much of it I did not really understand, but it spoke directly to the part of me that knew the truth was being expressed in a very clear and powerful way. After a couple of weeks I knew I had to learn the techniques of Ishayas’ Ascension, and so I did.
Like MSI mentions in the Ascension book, it is really just an invitation to move forward to have the experience of the Ishayas’ Teaching and ultimately of the Ascendant.

Vision and life
Without the supporting infrastructure of Visionary Truth, the meaning of life collapses toward meaningless. Visions are not false; they are not fiction or fantasy. True visions express the highest aspirations of our souls – aspirations impossible to express in any other form. This kind of understanding of vision is vital in today’s world. The invaluable contribution of modern visionary work is to give form to the ideas that no longer conveniently fit into our accepted patterns of belief.
MSI, Second Thunder
The physical, human mind – a structure of the earth – needs a modern vision of its highest purpose. With all the fragmentation in today’s world, it is imperative to have a clean, undistorted vision of the Source. To uplift the quality of human thought to its true, Glorified Reality is, in part, an annihilation of any understanding of the human as weak, sinful, decayed or limited.
The path of communication with the higher Self must be revitalized from the root. This path is not created out of Idealism – it is created out of blood and guts of human life-experience. This explains why the ancient myths were often violent. But it is not necessary to focus long on the problem, on the decay – there has been enough of that already. What is necessary is to acknowledge the reality of negativity, then focus on re-creation. The period of acknowledgment can be brief compared with the time devoted to reconstruction.
MSI, Third Thunder
First Thunder
First Thunder, An Adventure of Discovery begins in modern day and introduces the Thunder Series. This action, adventure novel begins in Seattle, travels throughout the world with intrigue at every turn, both on the physical and spiritual level.
While the drama unfolds, simple Truth is packed in every chapter. Science and Sacred are combined page by page revealing Reality from many vantage points. The story attracts your interest while the transformation of the characters rivals the story line. I was drawn by these characters that were willing to live their lives full on. Also, the characters exemplify the simplicity and ease with which life can be lived in innocence. Jyoti Ishaya

“First Thunder is for all spiritual aspirants of enlightenment and tells the tale of a man on a journey in discovery of the Ishayas and the Art of Ascension. From settings in Seattle, to Greece, to India, and finally to the heart of the Himalayas, MSI takes the reader through adventures and understandings of one man’s experiences of being introduced to this subtle and profound practice.” Deborah Fawcett
Second Thunder
Second Thunder, Seeking the Black Ishayas, departs into visionary myth, not unlike the Avatar movie – multi-dimensional, action oriented, dealing with both the sacred and mundane. We experience the beginning of creation and experience different periods over millennia as characters battle the same villain again and again – what we might call the ego.
We meet Lord Gana who is continually in search of his beloved Almira. Lifetime after lifetime, she incarnates aiding him in his awakening at key points in each life. It is a true love story; not the little love of romance, but eternal love - unconditional love.
Many stories emerge in Second Thunder. Every character illustrates a mixture of human foibles and the Divine, making them all the more memorable. The oft-repeated counsel, a favorite part of the book for me, is that “help is always available, even when least deserved, if one will just allow it”. We are reminded that we are never alone; we must never be fooled by appearances. What a great reminder of how life can operate if we just allow it! Jyoti Ishaya
Second Thunder leads the aspirant further into to the journey of the expansion of one’s individual consciousness to the universal level of dreams and possibilities as represented through its main character, Lord Gana and his part in the creation of Para. Its mythical format and subtle teachings keep the reader enthralled at every turn of the page. Deborah Fawcett
I have a vivid memory of one evening, in the fall of 1996, when a group of readers were quizzing MSI about his THUNDER series. In those days, people really wanted First Thunder to be a historical narrative, rather than a vehicle for introducing the Ishayas’ practice of Ascension — And, by golly, they were desperately trying to reduce Second Thunder to a formula that could be neatly digested by the left brain.
So MSI was patiently explaining that First Thunder is autobiographical but with a lot of literary license, and that Second Thunder is full-blown Myth. One person, still clinging to his personal New Age fantasy, responded, “So, then, First Thunder is fact and Second Thunder is fiction?” MSI leaned forward, locked the questioner’s gaze with his own penetrating stare and said, “No. First Thunder is fiction. Second Thunder is fact.” End of discussion.
First Thunder is actually a postscript to the THUNDER series, written well after the others were completed in draught form. But it’s also the jewel in the crown, because it points the reader toward a concrete practice that can open him or her to the depths of transcendence described in the earlier, mythical, works. According to Joseph Campbell, the main function of myth is to align waking consciousness with the Infinite Mystery of the universe, as it underlies our very existence and essence. First Thunder gives us a means to penetrate and experience that mystery; the other THUNDER books explore and open us to it. And they do it so well that the reader must leave his preconceived, conditioned universe at the portal, or risk becoming lost in confusion as layer after layer of space-time reveals itself. Many readers recount being chewed up and spit out by their first encounter with Second Thunder and then, picking it up again after a few months, their amazement at how easily they relaxed into the interconnected aspects of the story.
The Third Thunder books are more linear and, because they describe a timeline that parallels Second Thunder, can be read and enjoyed before attempting its complexities.

Third Thunder
Third Thunder Volume 1, Orah the Deathless Dancer, begins with Orah, an immortal lord who has lived about two hundred thousand years knowing only perfection. He begins a quest at the behest of his sister. As he is passing into a new land, he takes a sip from a river resulting in amnesia. His first encounter with mortals finds them in the midst of war. He must deal with completely foreign situations with no memory of his inherent powers. Doesn’t this strike you as something akin to what we might be experiencing?

Take time to read MSI’s books if you have not already done so. And even if you have read his books perhaps there is still more there waiting to be discovered. These books are one way in which the higher consciousness speaks to us and shows that there is much more to life than what is commonly experienced.

Over and over, his innocence saves the day. However, we watch as characters (including the immortal lord) overlook their intuitive knowing. Several times the narrator comments, “and therein sealed their fate”. Although many “mistakes” are made, guidance reveals that without the “mistakes”, some of the “miraculous” events may not have had the needed fodder to unfold.
Jyoti Ishaya
Third Thunder (Book I & II) even furthers the teaching in regards to each human heart and its divine capabilities as told through the struggles of the Etan Lords and Ladies with their god-like qualities of omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent abilities. The aspirant rides the tide of reincarnation and the duality of human existence in the subtle lessons and possibilities represented in the mythical realm of Martanda. Deborah Fawcett
Ascension!
This short book succinctly informs us of the True Nature of Reality while describing the spider web woven by the mind that keeps one falsely separated from that Truth. Although the concepts are not new, they are more profoundly, clearly and plainly stated than I have ever seen. MSI predominately emphasizes the power and authority of one person’s choice in changing the entire universe; each person and each choice they make is the only factor that can change one’s reality. Jyoti Ishaya
Ascension! is the factual-based book, which is my favorite because it tells all about consciousness, evolution and Ascension in an extremely easy-to-understand language. Like First Thunder, it also explains many things contained in a
First Sphere Course, but in a more direct, non-fictional way.” Surya Ishaya
My favorite book written by MSI is Ascension! I read it the first before I learned to Ascend and I have read it quite a few times since. For me it was very powerful and life-changing to read a book where the author was sharing so much of what was inside of me but I was not able to tap into yet. His words are so profound and have such depth to them. I had the experience while reading Ascension! that MSI was talking directly to me. It was as if the book was written for me to read at that exact time so that I would be ready to learn to Ascend. What drew me in the most was when he talks about not being able to heal the world until you heal the self. That was the push that I needed to help me see that this was it! Sukrani Ishaya
Enlightenment, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
A bold new translation of this many thousand year old document provides fresh, clear commentary about higher states of consciousness directly from Higher States of Consciousness. Considering its origin, one may be surprised with the scientific basis and the depth of description of the working of the mind. MSI not only exposes the simple cause of all distortions of the mind but states the approach that must be adopted to create the relationship with our Divine Nature.
He clearly states that attempting to eradicate these distortions on their own level will only give rise to other addictive tendencies in other areas of life. The correct approach requires a direct and living experience of our Source, Our own Divine Nature. As we experience That, our desire for That increases. Life and the universe easily can shift to experience more of our Divine perfection; all that is not That begins to wither away from lack of attention.
Jyoti Ishaya
The book Enlightenment: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, is an excellent book in that it delves into the topic of spiritual evolution in great detail. MSI here has translated an ancient Sanskrit text which describes the stages one can expect to go through as he or she journeys to complete human consciousness. MSI describes each sutra, or statement, in a way that can be understood and contemplated on many levels. He leaves nothing out and presents a full picture of enlightenment.
In summary, MSI’s diverse repertoire of writing provides many different avenues into the spiritual, just as do the Ascension Attitudes! I appreciate all of his books for the support they have provided on my journey. Sometimes I need inspiration, sometimes clear concepts that are written matter-of-factly, sometimes subtle glimpses into other worlds and realities. These books support the practice of Ascension for those who are already Ascending, and also provide valuable information to those interested in spiritual evolution.

Shamara, The Oblation Bearer
Shamara is my personal favorite [of the Thunder Series]. In many ways I find it the deepest, clearest, and most insightful of the THUNDER series, and many will find it to be an excellent entry point.
Shamara is about one woman’s quest for the Atira, which MSI defines as “the act of Return, of Sacrifice: the binding of the earth-breath back to its source.” In the Ancient Tradition, countless generations of Oblation Bearers carried their offerings to the Eternal Flame in total Trust and Surrender: Had their predecessors succeeded or failed? Would they succeed or fail? How many Oblations would it take to fulfill the Atira? Would this chalice be the final one?
But this is Myth, and Shamara is us: In the journey she undertakes with her companions we may see our own life-history, or the various components of our psyche and shadow, or the spiritual evolution of humankind, or even the cosmic interplay of light and dark. For what is the oblation, this cherished gift destined for the sacrificial fire? It is, simply, every aspect of ourselves that we have judged as being ugly, reprehensible, unworthy; it is every shadow in our Inner Temple we’ve projected onto self and others, then judged as less than perfect; it is that within us which has kept us limited and separate from the singular Truth of “That Thou Art.” And the secret of the Atira? That even this, at its essence, is perfect Love, and compassion.
Was this a spoiler? Not in the least: At most, it’s a very subtle hint at what awaits within the pages of Shamara, The Oblation Bearer. May you find each reading of this epic to be as unique and revelatory an experience as have the fortunate few who’ve read the pre-publication manuscripts.
Savitr Ishaya
MSI has given the human race written works to lift the hearts and minds of all aspirants everywhere to the Reality that lies beneath the very fabric of our Universe. He is truly The Prophet of the new millennium; and the Art of Ascension as Taught by the Ishayas is the clear path for us all to travel in order to bring our human experiences toward the light and truth of Love.
